GLENN A. MONK

Glenn A. Monk is the managing partner of the Insurance Defense practice group at Harrington, Ocko & Monk, LLP. Glenn has over 30 years of experience as a trial attorney specializing in tort defense litigation. Areas of particular expertise include: construction accidents, premises liability and security, products liability, general liability and insurance coverage. He represents corporations in OSHA and other administrative proceedings, and advises on claims handling.

Glenn graduated from Colgate University, cum laude, in 1976. He attended Boston College Law School, graduating cum laude in 1980. During law school, he interned at the Organized Crime Strike Force of the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York. Glenn served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Trial Division of the New York County District Attorney’s Office and 1980 to 1984, during which he was appointed to the Special Narcotics Prosecutors Office and Chinese Youth Gang Unit. Upon leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Glenn joined the firm of Jones Hirsch Connors & Bull, where he became a partner in 1989. He joined and formed Harrington, Ocko & Monk in 1996.

Glenn is a member of the New York State Bar Association where he serves on the Executive Committee of the Torts, Insurance & Compensation Law Section and Chairs the Premises Liability/Labor Law Committee of which he was the recipient of the “Chair of the Year” Award, in January 2008. Glenn has been selected to the Metro New York Super Lawyers® List, since 2013. Additionally, he was selected to the TOP 25 list of attorneys in Westchester County, New York. Glenn was also recently awarded the John E. Leach Memorial Award for 2016 in recognition of his outstanding service and distinguished contributions to the legal profession as a member of the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Glenn is a frequent lecturer at numerous New York State Bar Association programs and was the New York City Program Chair of the 2014 New York State Bar Association sponsored program “Law School for Insurance Professionals.” Glenn was the Co-Statewide Chair of the same program in 2013 and the Chair of the New York City program. He was again Chair and a presenter at the New York State Bar Association, New York City program on “Defending Intruder/Negligent Security Cases.” In previous years, Glenn has lectured at this program on “Preservation of Evidence and Accident Investigation” and “Third-Party Practice.” Glenn was Co-Chair of the statewide CLE program “Premises Liability – What You Need to Know in New York.” Glenn has also lectured for Construction and Safety Industry Associations.

In his personal time, Glenn is an avid skier, golfer, cyclist and sports enthusiast.
