Education and Not-For-Profit

Harrington, Ocko & Monk represents a diverse group of educational and not for profit institutions in litigation, corporate, and real estate matters.

Litigation : The Firm has handled diverse litigation matters for these clients, including employment discrimination claims based on race, age, gender, national origin, religion, disability and sexual orientation. The Firm has also handled claims of rape, negligent security, wrongful death, personal injury, toxic tort and housing discrimination as well as faculty disciplinary disputes and commercial litigation matters. In addition, the Firm regularly advises clients on insurance coverage issues relating to these litigation matters and regularly works with insurance carriers and third party administrators in connection with these claims.

Real Estate : The Firm has represented a university in the sale of its entire Westchester County campus. Thereafter we represented the same university in entering into a long term lease for its new campus facilities in Westchester County.

Corporate : The Firm has handled the initial incorporation and corporate compliance for not for profit corporations and foundations. The Firm has also provided advice on certain not for profit tax compliance issues.

Board of Directors : A founding partner of the Firm has served as a member of the Board of Directors of a not for profit corporation for the past 20 years, and continues to serve in that capacity.
